So you want to buy a home and don't know where to begin? Let the Neighborhood Housing Services of Kansas City, Inc. (NHS) help you in this process through our homebuyer educational services to assist first-time homebuyers.

Buying a home is the most expensive purchase most people will ever make, so it's important to make the right decision the first time. NHS homebuyer education participants receive helpful information and guidance about how to make the right decisions when they need to be made.

Homebuyer Education:

encourages preparation by teaching the steps in the homebuying process, focusing on the details to help you avoid costly mistakes;
is offered by NHS and sponsored by some of the area's largest and most respected lending institutions; and
is delivered through classroom training and one-on-one mortgage counseling.

In addition, as a NHS homebuyer education participant, you have access to a one-on-one session with a homebuyer education specialist. The specialist will evaluate your credit history, help you determine how much house you can afford based on income, and review your family's expenses. Articles on basic financial topics will also be available to you.
