INITIATES NEW DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Neighborhood Housing Services of Kansas City has announced that it has begun accepting applications for the new Kansas City Second Mortgage HOME Loan Program.

The City of Kansas City, Missouri has selected Neighborhood Housing Services to administer this new loan program which has been developed to empower Kansas City residents to further their dreams of homeownership.

Mark Stalsworth, President of Neighborhood Housing Services stated that, “This continues to be an excellent time for families to buy their first home. Homebuyer education provided by NHS helps first time home buyers make smart choices regarding loan products, and use this new program to obtain the American Dream of homeownership.”

This new second mortgage program assists qualified buyers with the purchase of their first home with a forgivable second mortgage loan equal to 20% of the sales price of their home.  The maximum assistance is $20,000, and the sales price of the home may not exceed $150,000.  All homes must be located in Kansas City, Missouri.

This loan is forgivable over a period of 10 years as long as the client remains in the home.  Household incomes may not exceed 80% of the area median income, based on family size.
