KANSAS CITY, MO -- Neighborhood Housing Services of Kansas City, Inc. (NHS) will be conducting door-to-door visits in the Central City Neighborhood to assist homeowners with testing smoke detectors, installing new smoke detectors and answering fire hazard questions on Saturday, November 8, 2008. The NHS Insurance Services Committee, comprised of representatives from State Farm, American Family and Shelter Insurance, sponsor the event each year to create awareness and to foster safe living practices.
The insurance representatives, collectively called the NHS Battery Brigade, will be focusing on the general area from Linwood to Armour and from Troost to Paseo in Kansas City, Missouri. According to Mary Humphrey of State Farm Insurance “this event is a fun way to bring neighbors together and to promote a very important safety initiative.”
Our mission is to revitalize and maintain urban neighborhoods as vibrant areas that attract people who value diversity, historic architecture, security and community.
